I’ve not been keeping this blog updated much as I’ve been spending a lot of time with my other blogs and my other writing, but it’s going good so far. November has been my most profitable month yet as a freelance writer, and December is already shaping up to be even better. I’ll keep in touch!

The Dark Knight Available For Preorder

Time is drawing near…the Dark Knight DVD is finally available for preorder on Amazon.com! I’ve already placed my pre-order; I saw this one in the theatres and I’ve been waiting for this one to come out on DVD. It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for the DVD version, or the Blu-Ray version, Amazon.com has it, and you can pre-order it right now!

Hello World!!!

Hello world! I didn’t realize it’s been an entire month since I’ve last posted on this blog – I’ve just been so busy writing! I’m not quite making a great living with this writing thing yet, but it’s paying off, that’s for sure – and I’m definitely working my way up the writing ladder; it shouldn’t be long now. Anyway, with the Holiday season coming up I know I’m going to be way busy, and while I know I’ll be making random updates here and there, they may be quite infrequent and sporadic. For this I apologize – but I do wish everybody a safe and happy Holiday season, and I hope everybody is looking forward to the year 2009 – I know I sure am! Anyway, I wanted to keep this short – but I’ll keep in touch!

I've been doing so good on my writing in just this very short time that I've been doing it that I've already received several promotions! Hopefully not too much longer and I'll actually be able to make a living out of this...

Summer of 2008 is official over - it went by fast! Of course, I'm sure Fall will go by much, much quicker. Anyway, I've been way busy writing lately, just wanted to stop in and say Happy Fall to everyone!

Weeds Season 4 Is Over...

...And it's probably gonna be a whole year before season 5 starts. Well this wasn't my favorite season, things really started to pick up at the end and I can't wait to see what's going to happen in the next season premiere!

Well it's been a little while since I've last posted, so I figured I'd just stop in here for a real quick update...

My new career's is going decent, not a whole lot of money coming in at the moment but I have stayed pretty busy writing...and I think its just a matter of time before I start making some good cash. So stay tuned - I'll make sure to keep you all posted!

R.I.P. Don LaFontaine

This really doesn't have to do with writing, or my freelance career at all, but I've just heard on the news that Don LaFontaine died at the age of 68.

You might not know his name, but just about everybody has heard his voice. LaFontaine was best known for his voice over work in thousands of movie trailers - you know, the voice on all the commercials before the movie starts in the theatre or on DVD...yeah, that guy. R.I.P. Don LaFontaine.

Video Games...

I grew up on video games, starting with the ColecoVision and Atari, then NES, Super NES, N64, Playstation, PS2, Xbox 360, and of course PC games the whole time, too. I don't know what it is, but I just don't enjoy video games like I used to - maybe I don't have that long of an attention span anymore, maybe they don't make good games like they used to, or maybe I just outgrew video games.

Don't get me wrong - you'll still see me playing the occasional video game, I still love RPGs (though I don't finish some just because they don't hold my interest long enough), action games and some sports games, but I don't play nearly as much as I used to. That's okay though, I guess it leaves more time for writing.

Labor Day Weekend...

For those of you with real, full time jobs, this is a time for celebration of a 3, or maybe even 4 day weekend. But what exactly is Labor Day for? Is it for mothers, who are in labor, or those who spend every day laboring away at their jobs? Hell if I know - hell if I really care. For me, its just another weekend.

Listen To Your Elders

As previously stated, it’s been a lifelong dream of mine to just become a published writer, never mind creating the next great American novel. And in the past 3 months I have probably done more writing than I have in my entire life – and I’ve finally gotten some work published! It’s just like all of my old English and writing teachers used to say: in order to become a successful writer, you have to write every day, and even write several times a day. This got me thinking – what other advice is commonly given out to children and young teens that actually holds true?

Treat others as you would like to be treated. This is a good one, and we’ve probably been hearing it since before preschool. Do you believe in karma? It is real, and if you treat other people as kind as you want to be treated yourself, you’ll find this out very quickly.

Never judge a book by its cover. People are going to dress, look, and act however they want to. But that doesn’t make them worse than you, and it doesn’t make you better than them. Nobody is in a position to judge anybody else. This may sound cheesy and cliché, but what’s really important is that which is on the inside.

You have to spend money to make money. This holds true in every profession or career. Are you working at a gas station or a supermarket? You’ll need to spend some money to put gas in your vehicle to make it there. Going to school to secure a better career for your future? Classes and books cost money, and student loans pile up quick. Get the point?

There are many other wise old adages that still hold true to this day. I mean after all, if they held no truth they wouldn’t still be repeated today.

Introduction

For those of you who already know me, you know it's been one of my dreams for a long time to become a writer. A couple of months ago, after a long and hard struggle I finally started to get my writing published, and now I'm actually making a little bit of money off from it. Consider this my online journal of sorts, to chronicle my life as a freelance writer...

If you don't know me, here's a little background information. My name is J.R., and I'm currently 26 years old and living in Michigan. I've been working with computers all of my life, and I've used a ton of different software, from word processors and website design to Adobe Photoshop, video production and 3-D modeling programs. Note that just because I've used the software, doesn't necessarily mean I can use it well ;)

But that's about it for now. I'll keep this blog updated on a semi regular basis, with information and updates on my new writing career. Thanks for reading!
